June Scoutmaster's Update
Submitted by Shawn Grimes on Tue, 2007-06-12 14:55Dear Troop 354 Families,
I would like to begin with “THANK YOU” for all the prayers, encouragement, cards & fruit baskets sent to me during my hospital stay. As many of you know after seeing my knee problems for the past years, I finally had surgery to replace them this past May. What I didn’t expect was being in the hospital for 19 days due to some small complications. I’m on the mend now and physical therapy is my next goal on the way.
During my hospital stay I received an email which really made my sprits high; this email was for our brother unit in Dundalk, Ireland (St. Patrick’s). During our stay in 2004 we were privileged and honored to personally meet with the outgoing & incoming Chief Scouts of Ireland. Both were so impressed with our efforts to support International Scouting the current Chief Scout extended and invitation to Troop 354 to attend the Centennial Celebration Jamboree for the 100th year of Scouting in Ireland in August 2008! This is a dream come true for our Troop, another opportunity for our Troop members to make new friendships and to experience Scouting at a Jamboree level! I already committed the Troop to attending; it’s an achievable goal if we begin to work on the plans now. I have so much more to say at the end of this summer when more details are worked out, but let’s make this a goal for our 2008 long term camp. We’ll set up fundraisers to offset the costs and give everyone chartered with the Troop an opportunity to see international scouting first hand.
This weekend is our annual “New Patrol” camp over at Eastcrest pool; attached is the permission slip; please return it when you come to OLH Hall on June 16th.

Meeting Update
Submitted by Shawn Grimes on Tue, 2007-03-20 22:32Dear Troop 354 Families,
As all of you know the month of February 2007 wasn’t very good for our Troop activities. We had planned to hold an Arrow of Light Ceremony for our 2nd year Webelos on March 21st, but due to snow cancellations of 3 Wednesday meeting nights, this activity too has been postponed. The new date for the Arrow of Light Ceremony is April 4th.
Please disregard the March activities calendar and we’ll be meeting on March 21 at our normal meeting time of 7:30 PM (if it doesn’t snow).
Also, final commitments for summer camp 2007 will be needed on March 21st also!
In Troop 354
